 Objectives of the Masterclass:

Upon completion of this masterclass, the participant will be able to:

  • Understand the relevance and apply the principles of MDT - assessment, management, recovery of function, and prevention - to an athletic population
  • Utilize a variety of MDT-based mechanical loading in the management of sport injuries
  • Identify risk factors for injuries and advocate effective preventive strategies
  • Integrate current research findings in daily work
  • Use valid and clinical tests to assess

Pre-requisite:

Clinicians with some experience in MDT may benefit the most from this Masterclass. The completion of part C of the MDT Education Program is recommendable.
The course is also open to non-MDT trained clinicians as it may add a considerable new perspective for the management of athletes.

Profiel van de docent

Greg Lynch

International Faculty / MINZ Committee Member | PT, Dip Phty, Dip MDT, Dip MT, MNZCP (Manip Thpy)

Greg graduated from the Otago School of Physiotherapy in 1991.  He completed the Diploma in Mechanical Diagnosis and Therapy (Dip MDT) in 1994 and the Diploma in Manipulative Therapy (Dip MT) in 1996.  Greg was recognised as an Advanced Practitioner with the NZ College of Physiotherapy (MNZCP).

He is a Senior and International Lecturer with the McKenzie Institute International and has been lecturing extensively with the Institute since 2004. He has lectured throughout New Zealand, Australia, Argentina, South Africa, Japan, India, China and Chile.  He has previusly presented on 'Chornic Low Back Pain' at the McKenzie Institute International conference in Rio de Janeiro, Brazil in 2009 as well as presenting a workshop and lecture on 'MDT and the Athlete' at the McKenzie Institute International Conference in Copenhagen, Denmark in 2015. . Greg has been an accredited provider with 'High Performance Sport New Zealand' since 2000.  He has an interest in Chronic Low Back pain and sports injuries specifically related to Swimmers and Runners but a real interest in all sports.  Greg has been in private practice since 1992 and a Co-Director and senior physiotherapist of Inform Physiotherapy Limtied and was a founding Director of Wellington Sports Medicine.
